Krabi's luxury resorts fall into a few distinct settings rather than competing head-to-head on the same beach. Resorts on Railay's private coves trade convenience for exclusivity — you're still boat-access-only, but with none of the day-tripper crowds. Resorts north toward Nong Thale and Klong Muang sit on quieter, wider beaches with more room to spread out and typically larger grounds. And a handful of private-island resorts go further still, with the whole island effectively reserved for guests.

At this price tier, room quality is rarely the differentiator — it's the setting, the beach, and what's within reach without a boat or car transfer. Before booking, check three things: how you actually get from the resort to the airport (some require a boat plus a car), whether meals are included or resort-priced (remote settings mean captive dining), and what's within walking distance if you want to leave the resort at all during your stay.
Best time to book
December to February is peak season and the best weather window, but also when rates are highest and rooms sell out furthest in advance — often 2–3 months ahead for the most sought-after resorts. April to June and October to November offer meaningfully lower rates for similar, if slightly less reliable, weather.
