What's actually here
Krabi Town sits on the Krabi River, a short walk from the pier where longtail boats leave for Railay and the islands. Beyond transport, its real draw is the night market, a relaxed riverside walking street, and being the closest base to Tiger Cave Temple, roughly 15–20 minutes away.
A half-day in town
- Morning: climb (or skip) Tiger Cave Temple, 15 minutes north of town.
- Midday: wander the riverside promenade and the fishermen's pier.
- Evening: night market for dinner, then a sunset river walk back.
Why base here instead of Ao Nang

Wat Kaew Korawaram
Krabi Town's own hilltop temple is often overlooked in favour of Tiger Cave Temple, but it's worth the short climb — around 100 steps rather than 1,237 — for its distinctive white walls and blue tiled roofs, a deliberate departure from the usual red-and-gold Thai temple style. Markets beyond the night market
Krabi Town also runs a smaller daytime fresh market near the same riverside area, worth a quick look for fruit, dried goods, and a genuine sense of local daily life outside the evening tourist crowd — a good stop on the way back from Tiger Cave Temple before the night market gets going.
