What it's like
The stream cools gradually as it flows downhill, so the pools closest to the source run hottest (around 40°C/104°F) and the lower pools are noticeably cooler — most people spend their time moving between two or three pools to find a comfortable temperature. It's shallow enough throughout to sit rather than swim, more of a natural spa circuit than a swimming spot.
Comfort tips
The rocks underfoot are uneven and can be slippery — water shoes or old sandals make a real difference. Fifteen to twenty minutes per pool is usually plenty before the heat gets tiring.
Getting there
The hot springs are in Klong Thom district, about 60km (roughly an hour's drive) from Ao Nang — most visitors combine the trip with Emerald Pool and Blue Pool, which are 15–20 minutes away on the same road. Organised half-day tours from Ao Nang or Krabi Town typically bundle both stops. Entry to the hot springs is a small separate fee, usually under 100 THB.
When to go
Weekday mornings are quietest. Avoid visiting in the hottest part of the afternoon (roughly noon–3pm) — sitting in 40°C water when it's already 34°C outside is less pleasant than it sounds. Early morning or late afternoon are more comfortable.
