What to expect
Unlike Railay's harder-to-reach caves, Diamond Cave is genuinely easy — a level walkway leads into a large chamber where mineral-rich stalactite and stalagmite formations catch the light, giving the cave its name. Resident bats live in the upper reaches, visible if you look up. The whole visit takes 20-30 minutes at an easy pace.
Getting there
From Railay East's floating pier, it's roughly an 8-9 minute walk north along the main walking street, following signs inland. There's no need to book anything — just turn up during opening hours and pay the entrance fee at the gate.
Good to know
Diamond Cave is one of three well-known Railay caves, alongside Phra Nang (Princess) Cave at Phra Nang Beach and the Railay Bat Cave. Combine a visit with a walk to Phra Nang Beach for a full half-day covering both the coastline and the caves.
Practical details
Open daily, roughly 9am-5pm, with an entrance fee (typically around 100-200 THB, sometimes varying by operator/gate). Bring proper shoes — the path can be uneven and slightly slippery in places — and note that this isn't a technical caving trip, just a straightforward walk-in visit suitable for most fitness levels.
