What Koh Lanta is like
Long Beach and Klong Dao, the island's main beaches, are wide, sandy, and lined with a mix of beach bars and mid-range resorts rather than the dense development found elsewhere in the region. It's a genuinely relaxed island — better suited to a multi-night stay than a rushed day trip, though day tours from Krabi do exist.
Getting there
See our full Krabi to Koh Lanta guide for exact ferry and minivan options — in short, a direct ferry (November–April) takes about 2 hours, and a year-round minivan-and-vehicle-ferry combination takes roughly the same.
What to do
- Old Town — a preserved wooden shophouse fishing village on the island's east coast.
- Mu Ko Lanta National Park — a lighthouse viewpoint and quiet southern beaches.
- Snorkelling and diving day trips out to Koh Rok and Koh Ha, among the region's clearest water.
